Game Maker operates a simple intuitive drag-and-drop interface that allows the user to effectively click together a game without writing a single line of code. A game is created using a number of elements: Resources are loaded into the Resource field. Resources include 2D sprites, wow gold sounds, rooms, background art, and any other asset that will appear in the game. These resources are used to create game objects. A single resource can appear in a game as multiple instances of a game object. Each instance of a game object has events applied to it. Events include create events, which occurs when the object instance is first initialized, collision events and mouse events amongst many others. Actions are specified for when an event occurs to a game object instance. Thus, whenever an event happens to a game object instance, it reacts by performing an action. Similar to Joystiq, Kotaku offers a one-stop shop for video game news, previews, reviews, and just about anything else a gamer needs. Overall, Joystiq's interface is far more pleasing to the eye, the light blue theme with white pages and black text makes for a easy time on the eyes, while Kotaku's unfortunate pee yellow and puke green gradients with pink links is a bit of a strain at times.
